The beginning of the trail is quite gentle with wildflowers and native bees, as well as some info plaques related to the Peak.
Onwards and upwards, the trail becomes steep with some sections requiring scrambling.
Once near the summit there is a sheltered area, makes for a good rest stop.
The cave is quite close to the summit, you have to cross past the cave and then you’ll get to another steep section and then climb a few boulders and then you’ll be rewarded with great views (weather permitting).
Fantastic hike. Dangerous enough to be really fun. Tough enough to make it worth it, and what I can only imagine is a gorgeous view on a clear blue sky day. (Was overcast and raining)
Really nice hike! It is quite steep at some points, so wear proper shoes, carry some water. Allow at least 1 hour for this. It is quite windy as well, good to have a jumper to stay for a while in the top. There were families with kids going up, but it is not something for everyone!
It's a 3km class 5 trail to the top of the frenchman peak. It's awesome to look at from a distance but getting up there requires a lot of trekking skills and stamina
All the way put your hand hold to ground climb up, when go down sometimes you need sit on the ground and slip it. This is what I do. Tough but fun. The top of the view is worth for your sweat.
Spectacular views from the peak. So worth the walk. It is very steep but slow and steady gets you there easily enough. It says 3 hrs rtn but I reached the peak in 30 minutes without going at breakneck speed.
Definitely worth doing.
Excellent level 5 hike, very very steep and not really for people that are scared of heights (like the misses is lol)
But if u can push past that and get to the top it's worth it all for the view.
Excellent hiking spot. It's a steep climb up to the top and committing to it can be nerve-inducing, but actually the journey back down the hill is much easier as the elevated vantage point gives you a much better understanding of the paths to take. I would not recommend it if the surface is wet.
The views at the top are absolutely stunning in all directions. Underneath the stunning views is a pretty large cave. Enter the caves at the far sides for ease of access.
There are about a dozen parking spaces, no facilities, no shade on the way up. Approximately 3.5km there and back. Comfortable 2hrs hike with plenty of time to look around at the top.
